Media Center and Parking Lot

1. Of all the videos this week (hallways, buses, media center, parking lot), which ONE video does your class believe is the most important and why do yall believe this?

What do you think this poster means? What does this poster have to do with establishing our behavior matrix?

  1. Ms. Stearns' 2nd period:
We feel that the parking lot video is most important because high school drivers are less experienced, reckless, and like to show off by driving fast.

We feel that this poster means that without boundaries and discipline, people will take full advantage of things - people, situations, etc.

  2. Mr. Bell's class believes the parking lot video because of the trash that is displayed in the parking lot, grass, and ditches leaves a negative view of the school from people who drive by the school.

    This poster is very true.

As a class, we believe the media center video was most important. We liked the way the video was set up, and that it used the element of humor to get the point across to students. The media center should be a place for students to study, research, take tests, or work quietly either individually or in small groups. As a student body, we must be respectful of the people who choose to use the media center for these reasons.

Looking at the poster, we believe it ties nicely into the new behavior matrix we are implementing. If we do not have a system of rules and expectations, we cannot expect everyone to follow them. Having set boundaries defined by the behavior matrix will allow our student body to be more respectful of our school building and the people who use it.

  4. The hallway video was the most important that we have watched this week. We get tired of hearing the loud music as well as the yelling and cursing.

Regarding the poster, we believe that it means that when people don't have boundaries, they don't know when to stop. If boundaries are not set, then feelings get hurt and classrooms spiral out of control.

  5. We think that the hallways and bathroom videos were the most important because everyone uses those. We believe that the poster means that without rules or regulations, things would be "out of whack" according to Dre! By setting expectations, students will be more likely to show respect and do what is expected of them.

  6. Williams' Class: We were divided :The bus is the most important because people needed to be reminded of the bus rules and without these rules, students can get hurt.
The parking lot is the most important because it was about safety and cleanliness. Without safety, big problems happen.
The poster means that if we don't have established boundaries (rules) then it will lead to disrespect of ourselves, others, and our environment.

Our class believes the parking lot video was the most important. My students feel that it is important to practice good driving habits in order to keep everyone safe.

The poster means that if there are no rules there is less respect therefore we need the behavior matrix to give us boundaries.

  8. The Parking Lot is the biggest problem. Students are concerned about safety due to students driving so fast in the parking lot. By putting boundaries, it may bring the illusion of respect, but true respect must come from within. The videos help us to understand what the rules are and why we should follow them.

  9. The Hallway video because everyone has to walk down the halls. If you have no boundaries you will have no respect from anyone. If we have no rules there will be no respect.

Parking Lot - If you don't obey the rules here, this could result in serious injury or death.

This poster relates to a class scenario. Example: A teacher who is unable to control their own classroom, has a lot of trouble w/ disrespect (talking too loud, playing video games, using personal device, being off task and/or head down).

  11. The Hallway.....

My class feels that students should move along in the hallway and not clog the hallway. They feel hallway behavior is more important than the others because they spend more time in the hallways and use them more often.

  12. The Poster - My students feel that the poster means without rules there will be no respect in the school. The behavior matrix will help create boundaries that will lead to more respect among students and staff.

We believe the parking lot video is the most important because the parking lot can be dangerous if the rules are not followed. Also, the parking lot is what people see from the road therefore if it looks bad with trash it gives the school a bad appearance.
The poster is saying that if you do not have a set of guidelines or rules to follow (boundaries), it opens the door for anyone to basically do what they want, even be disrespectful. This relates to the behavior matrix because the matrix is the guidelines to provide a clear explanation of the boundaries.

  14. Our class said that both the bus and parking lot videos are equally important, partly for the same reason. Misbehavior on the bus or in the parking lot can result in injuries, even death. Also, too many people are hanging out in the parking lot after school and littering. Several students said that the middle school students really need to watch the bus video, too, because they behave very poorly on the buses.

Rules are boundaries for our behavior so we can get along with each other. With the behavior matrix, the school is trying to reinforce the established boundaries to increase everyone's respect for ourselves, our peers, and the school.

  15. Our class thought that the Media Center video was the most important because students are very loud most of the time.

If the school does not come together on an equal set of regulations or boundaries, there will be chaos and lack of respect for those teachers that try to enforce the rules.

  16. Our class thought the parking lot/buses were most important because they were the two highest risk areas for potential injury.

We thought the poster meant that you have to "lay the law down" to promote a more respectful environment. The reason for the behavior matrix is to create a more respectful environment that we can all take pride in.
